By using Speak: The Graphic Novel in my classroom, my students will be able to build non-visual reading skills through visual storytelling. The blending of visuals and text will help build their vocabulary and comprehension by providing more context for them to procure their clues from. This way of presenting a novel will allow my students to be engaged and become lifelong readers. I want to be able to show them the many different ways texts can be presented and how our reading experience can even be enhanced. It is very important to try new ways to help engage reluctant readers.
