When a student participates in and engages in the arts, their whole educational career is widely enhanced. Music alone gives a child the freedom to explore and tap into gifts that were lying dormant inside them. Utilizing the Orff instruments helps to develop both sides of the child's developing brain. Students that learn to play an instrument improve their test taking skills therefore contributing to better focusing and confidence. This is essential for our inner city students. Not only will using these instrument help students achieve academic gains, the self awareness and sense of accomplishment is inevitable. The drums as well as the mallet instruments will be used in displaying musical compositions during PTA(Parent Teacher Association) and holiday programs. They would also be used daily to teach musical concepts as well as for students to show assess their knowledge of musical concepts.
