The fifth-grade team at elementary school is hoping to take our classes on a field trip to Disney’s Magic Kingdom to take part in the Kingdom Keeper’s Quest. This is an interactive scavenger hunt that is based on the Kingdom Keepers series that we’ve read/are reading in class. This book has been used to practice and reinforce ALL of our ELA (Reading & Writing) literature standards and several of our writing standards; activities relating to vocabulary, journaling, and development of plays have also been incorporated. The content of the book is very relevant to our students, having come from 4th grade in which they learned about Florida, and it included Disney World in several capacities when discussing tourism and the economy. The series also has a lot of STEAM content, lending itself to numerous critical thinking class discussions in this area. Many students who were uninterested in reading have gotten hooked and reading this book has got them excited about their school day! The quest is closely aligned with the book and involves/requires; problem-solving, visualization, observation, creativity, math skills, language arts, critical thinking, teamwork skills, communication and reading comprehension. This will be an amazing experience for our kids, some of which rarely have the opportunity to see beyond our small town.
