My students love to dance and move during our brain breaks and music time. The use of music in my classroom is daily, and the addition of instruments will strengthen our music time and brain breaks. The Boomwhackers and Rhythm sticks specifically will allow for my students to use their whole body to learn and express themselves. Research has proven that music in early childhood strengthens social and emotional skills, helps students speak clearly, and develops more of a vocabulary. Having musical instruments will not only teach my students music but will also teach them responsibility and respect for our classroom property. We will learn what each musical instrument is, what it sounds like, how to play it and how to properly care for it. Additionally they will learn how to share all of the instruments and how to take turns, one of the most important foundation skills we teach. Many of my students have not been exposed to playing instruments and I would love to start teaching them musical elements. Thank you for taking the time to learn about our classroom and how we would benefit from musical instruments. Have a great day!
