My students will voice their choice to sit where they work best! Advocating for themselves will transition them into becoming independent learners who are able to problem solve. They will begin by evaluating where to sit that suits their learning style. Students will be given the choice to sit in traditional chairs or balance upon special seating balls that will not only help their active bodies be calm but also engage their minds. Or perhaps they will choose to be comfortable on colorful floor cushions that they may carry to any area of the classroom. While sitting on these cushions students will practice not only healthy posture but also experience increased concentration while reading and writing. Or maybe they will opt for a floor seat with back while reading more comfortably with fewer reduce distractions. When students are offered options, they feel respected and will respond more favorably to school. Having several choices will add to the excitement of going to school and finding out what's new each day!
