As an International Baccalaureate (IB) School we depend on having the ability to look up information and research our questions at a moment's notice. The IB curriculum helps to develop critical 21st century skills such as research, thinking, communication, social and self-management. In order to gain these skills students are presented with questions and concepts to work together with their classmates and teachers to gain a deep understanding of how the world works. My students need access to more technology to learn important research skills such as critical thinking, analysis, synthesis and problem solving. Currently, I have 6 Chromebooks to share between 23 students, which poses challenges for ensuring that each student learns how to utilize the technology as well as having enough technology available for student research and discovery. With added Chromebooks, students will be able dig deeper into their learning to become 21st century learners. With these Chromebooks, my students will be able work in pairs to gain access to the world beyond their classroom and neighborhoods connecting them to people, knowledge, and ideas that will enhance their sense of self and appreciation of the world.
