This is an Ohio inner city school. Of the 1,000 students the ratios breakdown as follows: 85% classified as economically disadvantaged, 18% disabled, 62% Black, 35% White, 3% Hispanic or multi-racial. The school was built in 1952 and lacks the latest technology to ensure the students will be prepared for a global society. The urban community that surrounds this school is supportive of the school, and much pride is evident; however, due to the economic status of the residents, our building cannot afford the latest technology that would enable me as a teacher to narrow the gap between the disadvantaged and the advantaged in our society.
