The entire 7th grade works on an Expeditionary Learning Unit, called "Be the Change". The book, "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" is used as an anchor text with this unit. We use the book to look at STEM, hunger, poverty, Human-Environment Interaction, education, perseverance and other topics. Hardback copies of the book, "The Boy Who Harnessed the Wind" will enable students to read along with me as I read the book aloud. Having an individual copy of the book is essential for several reasons. First, equity for students. Second, having their own personal copy of the book, enables students to develop a deeper connection to the story. Finally, listening to the book and reading along helps the learning "stick".
