Our classroom environments should be conducive to open collaboration, communication, creativity, and critical thinking. This simply cannot be done when kids are sitting in rows of desks all day. I am working to create individual flexible seating options for each of my students. Flexible seating provides opportunities for engaging instruction. Students have the ability to choose where to sit, establishing an appropriate learning environment for each individual student. Because all students learn differently, not every student learns best in a traditional desk seating. Flexible seating ensures that each student feels comfortable in their learning environment, in addition to supporting students’ learning needs.
