Having flexible seating in the classroom will allow my students the opportunity to feel empowered. Students can not be defined or constrained to doing things one way, giving them choice will help them feel in charge and confident so that they can be successful. By providing my students couches and bean bags they will be able to collaborate in a comfortable way and it will help them to be more excited about their learning. Having a wobbly chair will allow for active seating in the room that will help keep the body more engaged and alleviate the negative effects of prolonged sitting. As educators we want the best for our kids, and its important to recognize all students learn differently. Allowing my kids to personalize their learning will allow them to feel calm and focused. I want my students to be active learners and learn to be independent.
