My students have complex sensory needs and would benefit from a quiet space within our classroom that they can use when they are feeling overwhelmed so they can then get back to learning. When these students are over or under stimulated they have difficulties staying focused and learning needed skills. The canopy net and the the light table will help to make a corner in my classroom the calming space that they need. The calming ocean-wave aurora projector will project colors in the space to make the space more calming (these colors are calming colors and research shows that they help students with Autism). The kinetic sand and fidget and squeeze toys that we already have will be available in this space as well to help with anxiety needs. The Big Joe bean bag chair and carpet will help create a calm, comfortable space where students can come to use self-regulation strategies to help them get ready to learn.
