By implementing flexible seating in my classroom, my students will have the choice to sit comfortably and collaborate with peers of their choice. This will develop a sense of community in my room by allowing students to practice taking turns where they sit and who they sit by. Ultimately, flexible seating allows students to take ownership of their learning in ways that best meet their own needs. The wobble cushions will allow students to either sit or kneel while they work and collaborate with other students at the table. The stability balls helps build core strength while allowing students to fidget and bounce while working. This will greatly benefit my students with ADHD as well as those with sensory processing disorders. The bean bag chairs will allow students to sit where they want around the room with clipboards to do their tasks. The colorful stools will allow students to comfortably sit at a table with me during their teacher center rotations.
