The diverse variety of requested books are all mentor texts for a reading program called Rooted in Reading. I have purchased this program with my own money off from Teachers Pay Teachers. This expense was significant, but I felt it was well worth the cost to bring back the love of reading in my classroom. These books bring the magic back into reading. Books like Jabari Jumps and the Great Spruce are full of rich content and vocabulary. Rooted in Reading focuses on critical thinking and digging deeper into text, while making reading fun by including follow up projects. I am so excited to share the love of reading with my first grade kiddos this year. I truly believe it will make a significant difference in every single student's learning for years to come.
