Having a pitched instruments such as a xylophone will give my music students hands-on experience with reading notes, hearing the outcome of reading and playing those notes, and the ability to transfer that knowledge to other instruments like a piano. The xylophone is just a beginning for them. We hope to add the alto and bass drum too. Adding this pitched percussion instrument to non-pitched instruments like shakers and rhythm sticks will keep students engaged in their musical learning. Students will also be learning vocal skills and songs that may be accompanied on instruments like the xylophone.

About my class
