A classroom rug provides students with a comfortable space to gather, learn and share their thinking. Students can sit comfortably in their own space to learn with their peers as well as sprawl out on the rug during their independent and partner reading time. The classroom rug is where our best learning takes place. The rug creates a space where I can teach and my students can learn. I can see each of their faces, hear their thoughts that they share with one another, and share with them, in close proximity, all of the wonderful things I have to teach them.
