My students learn all about literary analysis and good writing, and sometimes they get bored with the normal run of the mill day in language arts. The board games I hope to purchase for my classroom target language arts skills and critical thinking but in a camoflauged way that the students will see as a treat! Students don't play board games like they used to, instead they socialize through their phones which is taking away from their problem solving and in-person social skills. My hope is that by providing board games and time to play them, my students will not only gain better critical thinking and spelling skills, but gain a stronger vocabulary while also learning how to socialize and problem solve. Sometimes it's nice to take it back to the old school and show kids what good old fashioned fun is and, more importantly, to show them that their phone does not hold all the power to having fun, socializing, or learning.
