I chose "How the U.S. Government Works" to show students in black and white how and why our government does things. I want them to watch and be able to understand things happening in our world. This book will bring it down to their terms and help to explain complex terms. The other book I chose was, "The U.S. constitution and You". Kids today see the Constitution as an old paper they study. This book brings it from the past to the present and explains how it fits in to today's world and today's problems. I want the students to be able to say, "I get it now!" I want them to see that the Constitution is not just about the past, that it is still very applicable to today and to them. I want them to understand that this document protects them and their rights still today.
