East Oakland isn't the safest communities, and many students don't get the experience to go outside their community. Many will be visiting a college campus for the first time, and will have the opportunity to speak with college students and learn more through workshops about how to get into high education. Many of our students will be the first in their family to go to college, and to this day, I know the impact it made for me as a first generation college student. I just want my kids to have the chance to see what else is out there.
