We are a historic urban school in the middle of Indianapolis. Our school sits on a Civil War arsenal. Our student population is roughly 2,400. Three quarters of our students receive free or reduced meals. About 47% are African American, 36% Hispanic, 18% are designated special education students, and 15% English Language Learners. Traditional history textbooks can be overwhelming for our students! These books are condensed high interest books. Students find this book less intimidating, allowing them to build confidence in their reading and vocabulary skills, while learning about U.S. history.
