My First Grade Students come to school each and every day full of energy and excitement for their day. I have the privilege and the challenge of providing them with their first educational experience. It is up to me to provide them with a comfortable, fun, and engaging classroom environment. A traditional classroom setting limits us to sitting on the floor or on chairs through most of our day at school. This option doesn't allow us the movement we need to help our minds function at their full capacity. Being forced to sit on a chair too long can make us uncomfortable and fidgety, causing us to lose focus on important tasks. Our reading library limits my kids to what is available and being a title 1 school there is not much of a selection. The best way to increase reading ability is to read more. These books will help my students grow stronger in reading. Flexible seating allows us ability to move as we learn.
