These reading materials will help actively engage my students during a read aloud. As I model, students will practice a skill and discuss the book throughout the read aloud. During comprehension questions students will have a deeper discussion about the skill they are practicing, as they use accountable talk with their peers. They will actively think about one certain skill during each read aloud, for example, identifying characters traits, feelings and actions during a read aloud with their classmates. They will have the opportunity to apply these skills during their independent reading. Students will be able to discuss books with a deeper understanding.
