Last year, learning took place everywhere inside and outside of my classroom. My goal, when looking at flexible seating and work spaces, is to encourage out of the box learning. I am ordering work desks that students can use to do independent work or to do their reading/math station activities at with a peer. Normally, my students would do independent work at their desk, where they have a hard surface. These desks will allow students to work anywhere in the classroom. These desks and soft disk chairs can also be taken outside for learning stations to occur outside comfortably. Learning doesn't just take place at students’ desks; it takes place everywhere and wouldn't you like to be comfortable while learning. Allowing students to pick where they want to sit while learning encourages ownership in their learning. It allows students to collaborate with each other or to work independently when desired. These materials will provide comfort and will encourage decision making.
