An easel is essential for my classroom because it will be used in a variety of ways. We need the book Growth Mindset. Students need a positive role model in their life who demonstrates a GROWTH mindset versus a FIXED mindset. Growth mindset focuses on learning over just looking smart, seeing effort as the key to success, and thriving in the face of a challenge. While fixed mindset focuses on looking smart over learning, seeing effort as a sign of low ability, and avoiding challenges. Growth mindset is going to be a key topic in my class and I am looking forward to introducing this topic to both parents and students. Lastly, we need the book How Full Is Your Bucket? "We all carry an invisible bucket. This bucket contains our feelings. When our bucket is full, we feel great; when it’s empty, we feel empty. A bucketfiller is someone who says or does nice things for other people. By doing this, they are filling other people’s buckets and filling their own bucket at the same time. On the other hand, a bucketdipper says or does things to cause other people to feel bad." This book is something I am really looking forward to introducing. Teaching my students that it is important to pick others up when they are having a bad day or just simply doing something out of generosity.
