Science classes can be a challenge at an alternative school; many schools, like mine, lack lab-designed classrooms that make science experiments and project-based activities safe and organised. I am proud to have the qualifications to allow our school to offer high quality science courses that otherwise might not be part of the Dottke experience. Our school recently moved into an old, traditional school building, but it lacks classic "science" room. This makes running hands-on and project based learning a challenge. I must slowly acquire basic science equipment along with materials unique to each science class and its respective curriculum. My goal is to transform my classroom into a functioning science lab, stocking it with resources that will sustain science classes for years to come. This interactive classroom will promote inquiry, engagement and the chance to practice proper scientific experimentation.
