I am teaching in a fifth grade classroom in the Midwest. I have 21 students in my classroom. Then we have our students from 3 classes rotate to Science, Social Studies, and Writing. This helps our fifth graders get ready for 6th grade where they switch classrooms for all of their classes. This basically means that I see all of our fifth grade students every day. Our building has been updating at a slow rate. However, due to the economy, this year I feel we are at a standstill. My students hate using the chalkboard and I have never had students dislike coming up to the board. Usually they enjoy that physical movement and acknowledgment but not with the chalk.
