This will be the fifth year our school has been open! I am so excited every year a new group of students comes up. They were in 1st grade when we opened. Our students continue to surprise me every year with how much they learn. This year my focus will be on helping my students find their favorite time in history. My students love Social Studies, and we learn most of it through technology. Some of them will sneak ahead to other time periods because they know something about that time. I had a student two years ago who loved Social Studies and he wanted me to find a way to make it fun. I spent the whole Spring Break figuring out a way to make it more fun for him. I wish I had more historical novels to help students connect dots between our learning and the past. Our students love the few novels we have and are patient to share. This will benefit our students, because they can connect learning and novels.
