My students will be introduced to many things for the first time. Students coming from kindergarten have their basic skills mastered (for the most part). My students will be diving deeper into more complex subjects in order to build on their prior knowledge. First grade is a very content-heavy grade level. Students will be obtaining lots of information and new skills from the time they step into my classroom until the time they move on to second grade. The materials I am requesting are materials and manipulatives that will help my students grasp the concepts that they'll need to become the skilled mathematicians, readers, and writers that I know they can be! I plan to implement ELA rotation groups in which my students can visit word work stations, writing stations, and math stations. In these stations, they'll be focusing on phonics, reading comprehension, fluency, vocabulary, practicing their sentence building, and working on their writing skills. The students will be using the phonics linking cubes during this time. When writing, students will be able to use the lined paper instead of notebook paper. This helps improve handwriting skills. The Dixon Tindercon pencils are great for students who are learning to write. The eraser is user friendly and doesn’t rip the paper when the student is erasing. The post it chart paper will come in very handy when I’m teaching my students a skill that they’ll need to look back on. I’ll be able to hang these post it chart papers throughout my room. Please consider helping me build my classroom with resources that will benefit my students. Being a first-year teacher, my resources are limited. Anything you can give will help. Thank you so much, from the bottom of my heart. And I'm sure my students will be appreciative!
