My students struggle to read and require assistance in the classroom when reading. Having to move to a small group so a teacher can read for you can be very embarrassing to a junior high student. I want to give my students a way to read independently at their desk just like all the other students in the classroom. Giving a student the skill of reading independently opens up their world to magic. C-Reader Pens allow students to be able to receive reading assistance without being singled out. The C-Reader Pen looks like a small MP3 player, and any ear-buds can be attached. The student uses the pen to scan the text they want to read, then the C-Reader reads for the student. This project has the potential to change struggling readers' lives. These students will no longer have to be placed in resource rooms, but will actually be able to take classes with the general education population. No more separation or seclusion!
