Students will use the resource game Settlers of Catan to visualize the need for trade in society. Trade is mutually beneficial and will only occur under that rationale. When placed in a competitive situation students intuitively understand the need for trade, bargaining, and many other economic concepts that drive economies and markets. Students will be directed to analyze economic concepts as they learn through gaming, and they will gladly do so! When learning becomes experiential and emotions are attached to the cognitive exercise, students are far more likely to retain the conceptual information long term. Here is your chance to support long-term economic understanding for my high school students.

About my class
