Allowing student-led instruction (where the kids become the "teacher" to show their ideas, strategies, and problem solving skills) means having a space where kids can problem solve and create solutions in math and science. I encourage students to develop their ideas through self-led problem solving. While we have individual whiteboards in our classroom, when children display their solutions it is on an outdated blackboard. Our building is old and does not have all the "up to date" technology and materials of other schools in our area. A whiteboard with markers will provide a more efficient way for students to lead instruction, show problem solving strategies and allow for whole group lessons.
