Students in my class work in an environment of teamwork and collaboration. We meet as a class to discuss and share strategies to solve problems in math and to learn new strategies for reading comprehension. Student's individual perspectives are welcome and different methods are shared. Students often work in partners and groups as they are solving math problems or reading books and working on comprehension strategies together. My students are welcome to find a suitable place to work together with others or a good space to work alone. A lot of students seek out a space where they can have room to move their bodies and shift around as they work together or independently. I have noticed that when students can regulate their own body movement, they are engaged and focused on their task, and learning and work output is at a very high level. At this time I have very few options for seating in my classroom. With this project, I want to be able to give students more options for them to regulate their own body movement so that they can be engaged in their learning and be the best that they can be.
