My students are inquisitive, bright, caring, and hungry for learning. They love listening to read alouds and hearing a great story. They crave new information, and absorb high quality literature faster than I can expose them to it! The majority of my students do not have the privilege of hearing books at home due to single-parent families, and/or access to books due to poverty. Not one day goes by in my classroom without several teacher read-alouds. It's my favorite thing to do with my students, and they come to me throughout the day asking me to read a book they are dying to hear. I would love to be able to have the flexibility of handing them a CD player and a book so they can quench their thirst for reading even when I am not able to read to them.
