I teach a group of energetic 3rd graders. In my past 5 years of teaching I noticed that when given flexible seating options, students engage in lessons, learn better and are excited to come to school. Sitting in a chair at a desk for long periods of time can be tiresome for 8 and 9 year-olds. This year I would like to implement more flexible seating options in my third grade classroom. I've noticed that my some of my students are more comfortable working on the floor. I will use the soft seats to use at a table that is low to the ground. Students will be able to choose to sit at this table to complete their work. Some students need to move around in order to focus. The wobbly chairs and balance balls will help these students have a place to sit that helps keep them engaged in learning.
