In order to successfully host a science fair you need a ton of simple supplies. Some of the essential supplies include masking tape, extension cords, USB chargers, rolling carts, storage tubs, hot glue guns and sticks, name tags, permanent markers, presentation boards, and pens. These supplies sound very general and simplistic, but when you have 200 exhibits and over 15 judges, they become quite necessary--especially the rolling cart. My students and I are passionate about science and as I continue to motivate them and push them to investigate their curiosities, I want to be prepared and have everything they could possibly need or want. We had over 200 students participate in our first fair, and with your help, my science fair committee and I would like to expand our fair and offer our school level winners with the opportunity to attend a weeklong science and engineering summer camp at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. With supplies being donated, we can offer more enticing prizes to our winners with allocated school funds such as weeklong summer camps. We would like to send our grade level winners to camp so they can be inspired by the professors, equipment, and graduate staff at the university level! Our fair will continue to engage students in the practice of science or engineering, requiring them to apply those skills to a topic of interest. Winners will go on to the regional science fair at our nearest university and anyone that places at regionals will proceed to the state fair. Your donations will allow us to provide the essential supplies to our researchers and volunteers to help create a more successful and well organized science fair for the second year in a row. Yours in science, Ms. Carter
