First graders LOVE to hear stories. One of the benefits of having a listening library is that it allows students to hear and follow along with books, while I am providing reading instruction to various groups. It helps build their listening comprehension, reading skills, and love of literature! In our classroom I’d like to be able to offer new books and CD’s to listen to a few times per week. Currently we only have a few books per month to hear, so the selection is limited. Every time my students hear a book on CD, they also complete a listening response sheet to reflection on the story.
