Currently, our school has the only in-house Restorative Justice in-house Department in the city. The Department serves an average of 21 students a day, with conferencing, mediation, family meetings, and de-escalation services. This extra space will allow the department to serve more students during the school day. These spaces teach students to identify their needs, resolve conflicts without violence, and practice coping strategies. Currently, the students asking for services is higher than what one space can serve (for privacy reasons). The more options/spaces students have for a positive outlet, the less they use negative outlets such as self-harm and fighting.
