My second graders are active and wiggly, as young children usually are. Not all seating options work for every student. The typical desk chair can be quite uncomfortable after a long day in the classroom. My students all have different needs, and having different types seating choices can help to meet some of those needs. The flexible seating gives the students more options and can help meet the students' diverse needs while also giving them ownership over their choices in the classroom. The students can make the choice that best helps them learn. The wobble chairs will be used by my students at a table designed for independent or group work. They will allow the students to be in motion while they sit and learn. The Lean N Learn wedge cushions allow students to be more active in their learning as they tilt the hips forward. This is proven to be a more alert learning position and can be more comfortable for students because they are not hunched over at their desks. The Flex-Space wobble cushions are more versatile seating options. They can be used on the floor to do lap work or reading, they can be used at tables, or at the students' desks. All of these options will allow my students to be comfortable in their learning environment. It will show my students that I, their teacher, care about their needs. I will be able to create a classroom atmosphere that supports all of my students and their unique needs.
