My students enjoy listening to stories. A listening center would allow my students to hear more stories being read aloud and model good, fluent reading for them. Most books on tape (CDs) use character voice and bring the books to life for young readers. First grade is the year where most students learn to read, so a listening center would aid in their overall reading development. Additionally, flexible seating is a great way for young learners to move around while they are learning. Bouncy ball chairs are perfect for flexible seating. We have one bouncy ball chair already and the students love to take turns sitting in it. Thank you for considering my project.
