I've been doing my own type of flexible seating for years now. I've always allowed my students to sit where they feel comfortable, whether that was in a chair, on a desk, or even on the floor. Being in a "non-science" classroom, my only option for seating is the desk/chair combination because the science teachers get the long tables for labs. With fun chairs and big pillows, students will have the flexibility to sit more comfortably while they work if they choose. My students will be able to work in quieter areas of the room, read a book on the floor, or collaborate with peers comfortably and not just in the tiny desks I provide.
