Students in 1st grade are at a critical age to learn about the importance of being organize and how to be responsible (both in the classroom and at home). Having a classroom mailbox will allow them to keep documents organized when they turn them in and when they need to collect important papers to take home. During small group guided reading, my students can benefit from utilizing the dry erase white board decals to practice their CVC words and give responses during math small group. Adding a job chart to our class is essential because it adds a visual for the students to keep track of who is responsible for completing a certain chore.
