I am an elementary band director in District 833, South Washington County Schools in Cottage Grove and Woodbury, MN. I teach beginning band to fifth grade students at three separate schools in my district which I travel to on a weekly basis - Cottage Grove, Middleton and Pine Hill Elementary Schools. Middleton Elementary is my base school because I am there the longest during the week. I serve over 120 fifth grade students each week teaching them the basic fundamentals of learning a musical instrument from the woodwinds, brass and percussion family - including how to produce a characteristic tone, teaching rhythmic fundamentals and music literacy, ensemble and individual practice techniques, self-discipline, self-motivation, responsibility, accountability, etc. But for the most part, we have an amazing time learning how to make music and express something positive in this world. LET'S GO BAND!
