This project is important because it will level the playing field for all of my students. By reading these types of texts, my students will have access to a variety of topics that are extremely unfamiliar to them. These texts will aid in building their prior knowledge, vocabulary, and the ability to connect to the world around them. I will use the Scholastic and Time magazines and books to engage my students in reading, writing, and conversation strategies. As a group, we will be able to discuss real-world situations, jobs, and places around the world. These texts will become part of their classroom library and texts that they will read and discuss with their learning partners.

About my class
