Book like National Geographic Readers, Young Cam Jansen, and EllRay will help bring relevance and variety to our classroom library. My students have a love of reading and I want to continue to feed this love by giving them a variety of engaging books to choose from. Our library consists of an abundance of picture books but has very few chapter books. In second grade it is typical to transition between picture books to chapter books, and I would like to bring excitement and curiosity to this change. These new books will help foster student's independent reading with books that interest them at their own level. These high interest books will keep student's attention as they continue to increase their reading stamina. These books will allow my student's to continue growing in their love of reading.
