As a new teacher, my classroom library is extremely sparse. In order to give my students the best possible education, I believe I must read to them often and allow them to become familiar and comfortable with books. With cultured and vocabulary rich books, students will begin to broaden their knowledge, experiences, and schema. With these books, students will be able to make inferences and connections from our theme of the week. These books will allow students to grow in crucial development skills such as reading, writing, speaking, and listening. My library will allow students to learn the basics of handling books while experiencing the joys of reading. I will be reading to the students each and every day in order to further their literacy development.
