It is a powerful thing to see students taking charge of their learning in the classroom and that is why I am requesting these materials. My goal is to open the door for my students to learn and grow this year while inspiring them to walk through that door because they are serious about their own growth and aspirations. You may be thinking what does a trashcan have to do with this. I'll tell you, it provides a storage place for all the labeled anchor charts that I will make with the class. My students will then be able to use them when needed during independent work time. Organization is the key to this goal being brought to fruition. That is why I have asked for buckets to store flexible seating materials, clipboards to allow students to work on the carpet and a hanging file folder so that students can get the work they've missed from being absent. I also asked for command hooks and stikki clips to hold up current anchor charts for my students to use independently, with a partner or whole group. The tap lights and circle vinyl decals (markers, erasers, etc.) will be used during small group instruction. The tap light allows me to work with the students and not be disrupted by other students during that time. Lastly, the chalk paper not only adds to the decor but allows the students to have another workspace. Making the classroom visually appealing and functional for my students. By having all of these materials, my students can really take charge of their learning, self- reflect on their understanding and learn "how" they learn best.
