By funding this project, students will have the opportunity to use the stretch bands to keep their feet busy while learning to sit at the table to eat, sit in a chair and read in the library, or sit on wobble seats during large group instruction. The rug and pillows will allow for comfort when seated for work. The yoga mats will provide a sensory seat for students when sitting on the floor. My students have a hard time focusing and staying engaged during instructional activities in the classroom. They require frequent breaks and need to constantly move around the classroom. Flexible seating allows students to be comfortable and remain focused which improves academic performance Through flexible seating students develop the ability to problem solve, be flexible, be creative, collaborate with peers and reflect on their own learning needs. With these Wobble cushions, students will become more engaged and motivated in academics which will improve student behavior. Students will also burn extra energy, improve core strength and posture and increase oxygen flow to the brain. The goal in our classroom is to give every child the opportunity to learn and succeed through whatever means possible. With these flexible seating options they will have the opportunity to overcome barriers placed in their way!
