Wow! I can not tell you how amazing a different approach to teaching has helped not only classroom management but also student learning. The wobble chairs allow for students to sit comfortably but slightly wobble in a circle or back in forth to allow them to fidget while learning. The exercise balls and seat cushions allow for student safety to wobble back and forth or slightly bounce up and down so that the extra energy a 7-8 year old might have can be channeled into the seating and less into distracting not themselves from learning. The ability for students to have slight movements through these items will allow them to channel more of their attention on the curriculum and less on trying to find something to release their energy on. The basis of the research stems from making students more independent in their learning and also becoming much more self-aware of their learning habits. I want to give the students in my classroom the most choices so that they can start to become deeper thinkers when it comes to what works best for them. In life, we are filled with choices of where to go and how to do out best work and I want to begin to instill those skills into my students as well.
