The resources chosen for this project will be used in our morning circle time routine. Each child will use a baby doll to develop skills needed to increase attachment and atunement and then to increase learning by focusing on content standards. At the beginning the use of the baby dolls will help the children develop a connection by eye contact, touch, and belonging which leads to more of a social/emotional connection. Once these areas have been establish we can continue our learning to more cognitive areas focusing on the content standards. All in all language will play an important aspect in both the connection and the cognitive. For instance we can begin our circle time with our baby dolls by holding and making eye contact. Then we can perform a rhyme allowing for interaction of touch and language. As a reminder some of these children are not receptive to touch or language, so these activities provide a positive way to have an interaction. From this type of interaction we can also focus on content standards like body parts or spatial awareness. The resource use of the book is a resource for the teacher, me, on how to implement as well as the curriculum for the use of baby dolls in our circle time. All in all with the combination of the two: the baby dolls and the resource book our classroom family will be off to a great start to stronger social/emotional and cognitive skills.
