Currently, my students are learning in a small classroom that was constructed in 1912. Their nearly 50 year old desks are wobbly with pitted surfaces and are not easily arranged to maximize collaboration. These kids desperately need new, safe work surfaces that enhance peer collaboration in our evolving 21st century classroom. Students learning from students is often a more effective way to learn; therefore, student collaboration is an important part of the learning process. These lifelong learners collaborate with their peers throughout the day to create projects, give presentations, and participate in both reading and math groups. The large, flower tables will be utilized by all students to safely and easily collaborate with their fellow classmates!
