By having a comfortable, large carpet for students to gather at, they will gain a sense of community in our classroom. When learning together at the carpet, they will know where their focus should be and will help to eliminate distractions. "The power of gathering is to inspire us, delightfully, to be more hopeful, more joyful, more thoughtful; in a word- more alive." Additionally, having flexible seating options like wobble cushions and stretch foot bands gives students a wide variety of options when picking a spot for independent reading. The more comfortable they are, the easier it is for them to focus and dive deep into a good book.
